Horatian Ode: “Ad Solem” (To the Sun)
Oh, Sol, qui totumque mundo imperas,
Et aeterna dies luxifices,
Quem te laudare omnes debemus,
Utque tu nos in vita dirigas.
You, Sun, who rulest all and governest
The world with thy radiant beams,
To whom we owe our praise,
And by whose light we navigate life’s streams.
Strophe 1
Te, Sol, qui lucis fontem habes,
Et aeterna dies luxifices,
Quem te laudare omnes debemus,
Utque tu nos in vita dirigas.
Vestrum est, quod a vobis agimus,
Utque vos in nostrum corpus inducas.
You, Sun, who art the source of light,
And illuminest our eternal days,
To whom we owe our praise and thanks,
That thou mayst guide us through life’s ways.
It is ours to act in accordance with thee,
And that thou mayst infuse thyself into our being.
