Old English greeting

Ƿæs hāl! That means "Be well!" in Old English, which is also known as the Anglo-Saxon language (ᚠᚢᚦᚩᚱᚳ). The ancient Anglo-Saxons were a Germanic people who settled in England starting in the 5th century AD. One fun fact about Old English is that it was heavily influenced by Germanic languages like Gothic and Norse, which can be seen in its unique grammar and vocabulary.

P.S. Old English has also given us many words still used today, such as "they", "their", and "them".
