Under Stars and Moonlight
In the golden city of love and light,
Lay our grandmothers’ tales from days of yore,
Where gods and demons once warred at night,
And we shared our dreams before sun soared.
A world of magic and enchantment,
Danced by every being on the earth,
Where music was forever incantation,
And all things lived with love’s mirth.
We danced around the firelight,
Sparkling beneath the moon,
Holding hands with our grandmothers white,
Singing rhymes to ward off gloom.
We listened as stories unfurled,
Tales of courage and valor,
Of kings and queens and noble hurls,
Of love that conquered all sorrow.
Every night, we’d sing in our sleep,
To the sound of owls and crickets,
Wishing for the day when we could keep,
The world as it once was, full of witchetty tricks.
And now, as I sit here on the sand,
Writing rhymes from days gone by,
Remembering those precious hands,
I know love is all that lives and dies.
In the golden city of love and light,
Will you hold my hand tight,
As we sing songs of love and delight,
Under stars and moonlight?
