1. Sting, born Gordon Sumner in 1951, is an English musician and singer-songwriter best known for his work with the band The Police and his solo career.
2. As the lead vocalist and bassist of The Police from 1977 to 1984, Sting helped propel the band to international fame with hits like “Roxanne” and “Every Breath You Take.”
3. Sting’s first solo album, “The Dream of the Blue Turtles,” was released in 1985 and included the hit single “If You Love Somebody Set Them Free.”
4. Throughout his career, Sting has won numerous awards, including 17 Grammy Awards and an induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame as a member of The Police in 2003.
5. In addition to his musical accomplishments, Sting is also known for his humanitarian work and environmental activism. He founded the Rainforest Foundation in 1989 to help protect rainforests and the indigenous people who live there.
