Upon fair morning’s breath when dawns the light,
And roseate clouds their tender blushes shed,
I muse on themes whereof my heart doth fill,
With joyous thought of love, and love’s sweet bed.
Within yon forest deep, where shadows play,
And whispered winds through leafy boughs run free,
There lies a path by nature’s hand laid way,
To secret glades wherein our souls may see
The beauty of the seasons’ fleeting dance—
From winter’s frigid grasp to summer’s heat;
And as I walk, each step upon the trance
Of thoughts that gently with my heart do meet.
So let this sonnet be a verse to bind
These moments, pure and true, where love does find.
