4. Johnson also implemented the “Great Society” program, which aimed to improve education, healthcare, and social services in America. The program included initiatives such as Head Start, Medicare, and Medicaid.
5. LBJ is also known for his foreign policy decisions, including escalating the United States’ involvement in the Vietnam War. His administration authorized Operation Rolling Thunder, a bombing campaign against North Vietnam, and deployed 500,000 troops to Southeast Asia.
6. After leaving office, Johnson retired from public life but continued to be involved in various philanthropic causes, such as literacy programs and education reform initiatives.
7. LBJ passed away on January 22, 1973, at the age of 64. He was buried at his ranch in Stonewall, Texas.
