Cultural guidelines, I shall heed thy call!
A sonnet, then, with rhyme and meter’s thrall.
Fourteen lines of love and longing’s sigh,
In iambic pentameter, I shall try.
In twilight’s hush, where shadows softly play,
Amidst the roses, my beloved stays.
Her eyes, like sapphires, shine with gentle ray,
Reflecting all the beauty that she sways.
The world, it seems, has paused in wonderment,
As she speaks softly of our love’s intent.
The stars above, they twinkle like bright gems,
As I behold her face, my heart’s esteem.
And when the moon’s pale light doth cast its glow,
I’ll take her hand, and whispers “Forever go”.
Note: Traditional sonnets follow a specific rhyme scheme and structure. This sonnet follows the Shakespearean rhyme scheme (ABAB CDCD EFEF GG).
