Ruba’i

این گوهرها در بستن من شاید فرمیزند
تا من بر خودم پیروزی پنج گوهر کنم
حالاً با مسکن دل در آسمان پنجاهمین معینی
تا به دنبال قطر شب دفن گوهری سردنگان کنم

Translation: These gems might surround me in prison
Till I gain the victory of these five jewels on my own
Now, with my heart in the sky at the 51st level
In pursuit of a moon’s circle of frosty graves

The Ruba’i consists of three lines, followed by a final line that has more syllables. This pattern is inspired by Persian poetry and is used to express the theme of overcoming obstacles in life and reaching one’s potential. The word “gems” represents the inner beauty or talents within oneself, while “prison” refers to the external barriers or limitations that prevent one from realizing their full potential. By gaining the victory of these five jewels on my own, the speaker symbolizes self-discovery and personal growth. The final line, which is longer than the others, represents the ultimate goal of finding peace and tranquility by facing life’s challenges head-on.
