Spenserian stanza

In verdant glades where whispering willows weep,
And azure heavens doth with sunlight gently kiss,
There bloometh sweetly the lilies of sleep,
Beneath the watchful eyes of nymphs that caress.
Their laughter, like silver bells in breeze that dances,
E’en as they waltz ‘midst dewdrops on emerald lawns;
Oh! How their melody awakens in romance
These sylvan scenes where innocence forever dawns.

Upon the banks of that serene crystal stream,
Which sparkles like diamonds set in silver sand,
There tread I gently, as a specter in dream,
In reverent awe of Nature’s enchanting hand.
For here, where beauty and truth shall ever be entwined,
The world lies in repose by Love’s soothing rind.
