Chicken and waffles

Chicken and waffles is a classic American dish that combines fried chicken with sweet waffles. The best way to cook this meal is to use a cast iron skillet or griddle to make the waffles, while using a deep-fryer to make the chicken.
For the waffles:
Ingredients:
– 2 cups self-rising flour (if you don’t have self-rising flour, add 1 tsp baking powder and 1/4 tsp salt)
– 1 cup milk
– 3/4 cup melted butter or oil
– 1 egg
– Sugar to taste
– Vanilla extract (optional)
Instructions:
1. Preheat the waffle maker according to the manufacturer’s instructions and grease it with a little butter.
2. In a large bowl, combine the self-rising flour, milk, melted butter or oil, egg and sugar (if using), and vanilla extract (optional).
3. Whisk everything together until there are no lumps.
4. Pour some batter into the waffle maker and cook according to the manufacturer’s instructions.

For the chicken:
Ingredients:
– 2 chicken breasts, cut into strips
– 1 cup buttermilk
– 3 eggs
– 1 tbsp flour
– Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions:
1. In a bowl, whisk together the buttermilk, eggs, flour and salt and pepper.
2. Add the chicken strips to the mixture and coat them completely with the batter.
3. Heat vegetable oil in a deep-fryer or large pot until it reaches 350 degrees Fahrenheit.
4. Carefully add the coated chicken strips into the hot oil and fry for 2 to 3 minutes, until golden brown.

Serve the waffles with the chicken and a side of maple syrup or honey. Enjoy!
