1. Wilhelm Röntgen was a German physicist who discovered X-rays in 1895. He named them “X-rays” because he did not know what they were at the time.
2. After discovering X-rays, Röntgen received the first Nobel Prize in Physics in 1901 for his work.
3. X-rays are a type of electromagnetic radiation that can pass through most materials and reveal internal structures, making them useful for medical imaging.
4. Wilhelm Röntgen also invented a fluoroscope, which allowed him to observe X-rays as they passed through objects.
5. The term “roentgen” is used to measure the amount of X-ray radiation and is named after Wilhelm Röntgen.
