Finnish Spitz

Did you know that 🐶 The Finnish Spitz, also known as a Suomenpitsu, is an ancient breed native to Finland? They are often called the ‘barking bird dog’ due to their unique hunting style. Their high-pitched bark alerts game in the area and once they’ve located prey, they stand still and point with their body, much like a hunting bird would. They have been around since at least the 1700s and were originally bred to help Finnish farmers by driving away predators and rounding up livestock. They are known for their beautiful red-gold double coat and their unique bark. 🐕🌿🦊 #FinnishSpitz #BarkingBirdDog
