1. Florence Nightingale was an English nurse, social reformer and the founder of modern nursing.
2. She is popularly known as “The Lady with the Lamp” for her nightly rounds to care for wounded soldiers during the Crimean War.
3. Nightingale played a crucial role in improving sanitary conditions in hospitals, which significantly reduced mortality rates among patients.
4. She established the first secular nursing school at St. Thomas’ Hospital in London in 1860.
5. Florence Nightingale died on August 13, 1910, at the age of 90 and is remembered as a pioneer of nursing and public health.
