Portrait of Albert Einstein, Actionism, Scribble Art
1. Albert Einstein was born on March 14, 1879, in Ulm, Germany. He is best known for his work in physics and his theory of relativity.
- Einstein’s most famous equation, E = mc^2 (Energy equals mass multiplied by the speed of light squared), introduced a whole new way of looking at matter and energy. It explained how matter can be converted into vast amounts of energy or vice versa.
- In 1905, Einstein published his now-famous papers on relativity, time, mass-energy equivalence, photoelectric effect, and Brownian motion, all groundbreaking discoveries that fundamentally changed our understanding of the universe.
Einstein received the Nobel Prize in Physics for his work in electrodynamics and the photoelectric effect in 1921. The former discovery demonstrated that light is composed of particles as well as waves, which was a major step towards quantum physics.
Despite being born Jewish and living in Germany, he renounced his German citizenship during World War I due to anti-Semitism, and later became a US citizen in 1940. His work on the Manhattan Project was controversial as it led to nuclear weapons, but Einstein felt obliged to do what he could to stop the Nazis from developing them first.
Albert Einstein is known for his famous quote “Imagination is more important than knowledge.” He believed in the power of creative thinking and that even when facts were limited or unclear, imagination and reasoning could help fill those gaps with ideas and possibilities.
