1. Twiggy’s real name is Lesley Lawson, and she was born on September 19, 1949 in Neasden, London, England.
2. Her stage name “Twiggy” originated from her slim, twig-like appearance. She became famous as a teenage model during the 1960s “swinging London” era.
3. At just 17 years old, Twiggy’s career took off after she was discovered by a fashion designer in a London hair salon.
4. In 1967, at the age of 18, she became the youngest model to appear on the cover of British Vogue.
5. Apart from modeling, Twiggy is also an accomplished actress and has appeared in various movies, television series, and theater productions throughout her career.
6. She was also a popular singer during the late 1960s and early 1970s, releasing several singles such as “Dear Lover” and “Another Face, Another Love.”
7. Twiggy was awarded a damehood in 2009 for her services to fashion and charity work, becoming Dame Lesley Lawson.
